Magnífico invites you to the 2000
regional juried exhibition of Albuquerque area artists called
WATER: a juried exhibition. Formerly called The Art of
Albuquerque, this year the show focuses on the theme of water,
exploring a wealth of metaphors revolving around life in the
desert and in our region. The show brings together artists of
the Albuquerque area around a common subject and focuses attention
on an important environmental issue.
The show features 49 pieces by 38 artists.
The following guest jurors curated the show: Joanna Bigfeather,
Director of the Institute of American Indian Arts Museum, Santa
Fe; Maria Teresa Garcia-Pedroche, Programs Director, Dallas Museum
of Art; and Mark Klett, artist/photographer, professor, School
of Art, Arizona State University. In addition, Magnífico's
Visual Arts Committee selected four honors artists, who are also
included in the show.
In conjunction with the juried exhibition
at The Albuquerque Museum, there will be a series of satellite
exhibits and events at an array of venues throughout Albuquerque.
Each of these satellites explores aspects of the water theme
and the Albuquerque art scene.
