LECTURE ON CARR, KAHLO, O'KEEFFE

Magnífico presents a free slide lecture at 516 Magnifico Artspace about North America's most famous women artists featured in the exhibition Carr, O'Keeffe, Kahlo: Places of their Own (currently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe through January 6). Curator of Education Ellen Zieselman will explore parallels in the work of Emily Carr of Canada, Georgia O'Keeffe of the U.S., and Frida Kahlo of Mexico. These artists, widely appreciated as the outstanding twentieth century women painters of their respective countries, changed the look of art in the twentieth century within their own countries and beyond.

516 MAGNIFICO ARTSPACE

Built as a walk-through biomorphic forest, this exhibit assumed an ongoing fusion between the organic and synthetic worlds and depicts the confusion that naturally results from this merging in transition. The audience/ participant is provided with an encounter that moves beyond observation, as the traditional way of viewing art, and creates a total immersion in the vis-aural experience.
